BEGINNER SILVERSMITHING CLASSES

Designed for students with no prior silversmithing experience. Learn essential bench skills while creating finished jewelry in a small, hands-on class. View the Beginner class page for projects, upcoming dates, and registration.
INTERMEDIATE SILVERSMITHING CLASS

For students who have completed the beginner course or have comparable experience. Begin by creating a Russian wedding ring made of three interlocking bands that roll over the finger, while learning how to integrate separate pieces into one finished design. Then explore fusion, a technique that joins multiple silver elements to a backplate without solder. Using this technique, students may choose to create either a finished ring or pendant while developing greater heat control and confidence at the torch.
Intermediate Classes are available by request. Please contact us to inquire about current availability and upcoming class dates.
Completion of the Beginner class or comparable experience is required.
Current Beginner students receive priority registration for Intermediate classes.
Advanced
Advanced classes are offered to students who have completed the intermediate course or have comparable experience. Students work more independently while developing advanced fabrication skills through projects such as hollow-form rings and hammered-texture jewelry. Classes are offered periodically as students progress through the program.

PREREQUISITE: Must complete beginner & intermediate classes or equivalent.
Continuing Advanced Classes
Students who have completed the Advanced class may continue developing their silversmithing skills in these ongoing project-based classes. Each class focuses on one more complex project completed from start to finish, allowing students to strengthen their soldering, forming, design, and problem-solving skills while learning new techniques.

New students joining the class begin with a sterling silver wire cuff bracelet, an excellent project for developing precision through multiple soldered joints and carefully planned bends and curves.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of the Advanced class or equivalent experience.
Open Studio

Open studio is available to experienced students who have completed the advanced class or have equivalent experience. Students work independently on their own projects using the studio workspace and tools. Open studio time is sold in 10-hour blocks and may be scheduled during daytime hours or on weekends, subject to availability. Materials are not included.
COUPLES NIGHT OUT
Spend a memorable evening together making textured sterling silver rings in a real silversmithing studio. Each couple will design, shape, solder, texture, and finish two rings with step-by-step guidance from an experienced silversmith. No previous experience is needed.
The three-hour experience is limited to four couples and includes a cheese and charcuterie board, light refreshments, and nonalcoholic beverages. The price is $450 per couple, including materials.

GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT & PRIVATE GROUP EVENTS
Gather your friends for a hands-on jewelry-making experience at Silver of Oz. Girls’ Night Out and other private group events can be arranged for groups of six or more. We will work with the host to choose a project and a mutually suitable date. No previous experience is needed.
PRIVATE CLASSES

Silver of Oz offers the opportunity to learn Silversmithing in a one on one (or couples) setting. The courses can be completed over multiple sessions or in weekend intensives, which is particularly helpful for students traveling from outside Omaha.
